More money for your car.
Zero haggling. Zero hassle.

List your car once. Verified trade dealers compete for it in a blind auction over 24–48 hours. You pick the best offer — the dealer pays you directly and collects it from your driveway.

The process

Sold in five straightforward steps

No phone calls chasing you, no strangers turning up to haggle in person — everything happens through your dashboard.

1

Look up your reg

Enter your registration number and current mileage. We pull the make, model, spec and an indicative guide price automatically.

2

Complete your listing

Add at least three photos, declare your V5C logbook and any outstanding finance, and set the postcode you'd like the car collected from.

3

We check it over

Our team reviews every listing before it goes live — checking photos and documents are complete so dealers can bid with confidence.

4

Dealers bid blind

Your car goes live to our verified dealer network for 24–48 hours. Dealers compete without ever seeing each other's bids, only whether they're currently winning.

5

Accept & get collected

Accept the winning bid (or the best offer, if reserve wasn't met). The dealer transfers payment and collects the car directly from you.

Why sellers choose us

Built to get you a fair price, without the faff

Trade-in valuations are quietly low. Private sales mean strangers, no-shows and price-chipping at your door. DealerDriveway is neither.

Real competition, blind

Dealers can't see or undercut each other's bids — only their own status. That's what actually pushes the price up, rather than dealers quietly agreeing a low number between them.

Every dealer is verified

Trade buyers go through a manual review before they're allowed to bid on anything. Unverified accounts can't even see live auctions.

Direct, on-the-spot payment

DealerDriveway never touches your money. The dealer pays you directly by bank transfer at the point of collection — before the car leaves your drive.

Nearby dealers see it first

We show dealers roughly how far your car is from them, so local trade buyers — the ones who'll actually collect it easily — are naturally more engaged.

Your exact address stays private

Dealers only ever see your rough area and distance while bidding. Your full address is only ever shared with the dealer who actually wins.

Protected at handover

If a dealer finds the car doesn't match its listing at collection, there's a built-in process to propose a fair adjustment or escalate — rather than a dispute with no record of what was agreed.

Pricing, in plain English

You keep the full winning bid. Every time.

Some "we buy any car" sites quote you a number, then knock money off after an in-person inspection. DealerDriveway doesn't work that way — the dealer commits to a bid knowing exactly what your listing says, and that's what you're paid.

Our commission is charged to the dealer on completion of a sale, calculated as a small percentage of the agreed price — it never comes out of what lands in your bank account.

Trust & safety

Every listing and every dealer is checked

Manual dealer verification

Every trade account is reviewed by our team before it's allowed to place a single bid.

Listing review before going live

Our team checks photos, condition notes and documents on every car before dealers ever see it.

Address kept private until sale

Only your outward postcode and distance are visible during bidding. Your exact address is shared only with the winning dealer.

Time-boxed, fair auctions

Every auction runs for a fixed 24–48 hour window, so no listing sits in limbo and every dealer bids under the same clock.

Handover discrepancy protection

If a dealer reports the car doesn't match at collection, both sides go through a recorded adjustment or escalation process — not a shouting match on the driveway.

No obligation, ever

Reserve not met and you don't like the best offer? Decline it and relist — you're never forced to accept a sale.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to sell my car?

Nothing. Listing, valuation lookup, photo/document upload, and dealer collection are all free for sellers. We charge the winning dealer a small commission when a sale completes — it's never deducted from what you're paid.

How does the blind auction actually work?

Once approved, your car goes live to our verified dealer network for a 24–48 hour window. Every dealer sees the same listing but never sees another dealer's bid amount — only whether their own bid is currently winning, outbid, or not yet placed. That's what stops dealers colluding on price.

What if the highest bid doesn't meet my reserve?

You'll be shown the best offer received once the auction closes, and you decide: accept it, or decline and have the car relisted for a fresh auction window. There's no obligation either way.

When and how do I actually get paid?

The winning dealer transfers payment directly to your bank account at the point of collection — DealerDriveway never holds or routes your money. The car doesn't leave until payment has cleared.

What documents do I need to list my car?

You'll need at least three photos and your V5C logbook if you have outstanding finance, upload the settlement letter too. Everything is uploaded through your dashboard before submission.

Is my address visible to dealers while they're bidding?

No. Dealers only ever see your outward postcode and roughly how far away you are — enough to judge collection distance, not your exact address. Your full address is only shared with the dealer who actually wins.

What happens if the dealer says the car doesn't match the listing at collection?

The dealer can report a discrepancy and propose an adjusted price through the platform. You can accept the adjustment, or if you can't agree, our team steps in to review the case rather than leaving it to be argued out on your driveway.

Who are the dealers bidding on my car?

Every trade account goes through manual verification by our team before it's allowed to bid on anything at all — unverified accounts can't even view live auctions.

Do I have to sell via auction, or can I set a fixed price?

Both options are available. Choose a live auction to let dealers compete, or list at a fixed Buy-It-Now price if you'd rather skip bidding and sell to the first dealer who accepts it.

Ready to see what your car is actually worth?

It takes a few minutes to list — no obligation to sell once you see the offers.
